OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon Volunteer Registration Opens
Hundreds of OneAmerica employees will participate in annual race tradition
Indianapolis, January 12, 2016OneAmerica today kicked off its annual volunteer registration for the 2016 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the race and the 12th year of title sponsorship for OneAmerica.
Volunteering for the May 7 race and the events leading up to it has become a company tradition. This year, roughly 600 OneAmerica employees will pitch in alongside 500 Festival staff and other community volunteers to ensure Mini-Marathon participants and visitors enjoy a top-notch race experience.
“Twelve years ago, OneAmerica proudly signed on as the Mini-Marathon title sponsor, because it was an important investment to make in our local community. Over the years, this partnership has grown in such a way that our participation in 500 Festival activities also has become a key teambuilding platform,” said Vice President of Community Relations Jim Freeman. “Today, the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is part of the fabric of our organization. Our associates and business partners across the country take tremendous pride and ownership in our involvement. This is more than just an event, and we’re proud to play a role in it.”
In addition to the race, OneAmerica volunteers contribute time at the 500 Festival Miler Series presented by OrthoIndy, the 500 Festival Memorial Service presented by Rolls-Royce, the IPL 500 Festival Parade, the Mini-Marathon Expo (held Thursday and Friday of race week), and the Post Race Party at Military Park.
“As a nonprofit organization producing programs and events for more than 500,000 people each year, we rely upon thousands of volunteers to help us create an exciting and impactful community-led road to the Indy 500,” said Bob Bryant, president and CEO, 500 Festival. “OneAmerica’s talented, devoted employees are an invaluable resource to the 500 Festival. Each year OneAmerica employees volunteer or participate in the Mini-Marathon, ensuring the event maintains its national reputation as the top half-marathon. We’re looking forward to working together in 2016.”
Volunteer registration will continue through April 13, 2016.
