OneAmerica Holds Third Annual Week of Caring For United Way

OneAmerica® will once again up the ante on community kindness with its third annual Week of Caring, as more than 600 Indianapolis employees—nearly half of the organization’s local workforce—volunteer at seven United Way of Central Indiana agencies.

In total, more than 1,800 volunteer hours are set to benefit thousands in the Indianapolis community. Two years ago, OneAmerica became the first Central Indiana organization to devote an entire week to volunteer activities, and the Week of Caring has since become an annual practice.

“Community service is a cycle that enriches everyone, even if recipients never know who gives, and givers never meet those they help,” said Scott Davison, president and CEO for the companies of OneAmerica. “When people are educated, families are fed, kids are cared for and the homeless have help, it makes our community strong and vibrant. I hope our Week of Caring inspires our associates and others to contribute their time and resources to causes that ignite their passions.”

OneAmerica volunteers will help the agencies listed below by doing landscaping, packaging food, cleaning, making reading kits and helping residents make handmade crafts. Similar events are occurring at the West Coast corporate office in San Diego, at corporate offices in Wisconsin, and at OneAmerica field offices across the country.

OneAmerica President and CEO Scott Davison will be sorting and packaging food from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20th at Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. He and Gleaners leaders will be available for interviews during this time.
