Kendall
School: Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis
Major: Informatics
OneAmerica Dept.: Business Analyst, Information Technology
What should an intern bring on their first day? I was pretty prepared for the first day. On the second day, I wish I had my earphones.
Best part of your internship: Learning more about the position of a business analyst. This experience has shown me this is definitely where I want to start my career.
Describe OneAmerica culture in one word: Changing. A lot of people have new ideas and they are bringing them up.
Best piece of advice you were given during your internship? Sit back and listen more. When I was working on one of the projects, I didn’t get as much out of the meeting because I was spending more time thinking about what I was going to ask than just listening.
A skill you acquired or grew during your internship: Self-reflection. Finding time to step back and look at where I need to change and grow.
If your department was a TV show, movie or song, what would it be and why? A combination of The Office and Parks and Rec. People here can be really sarcastic and funny.
What tip would you give to those interviewing for internships next summer? Ask questions, understand what your potential role is, and be ready for a lot of interviews. You will meet with different types of people.
