OneAmerica Hosts First Week of Caring for United Way

OneAmerica will up the ante on community kindness Aug. 25 - 29 when more than 600 employees volunteer for five organizations to support United Way of Central Indiana. In total, over 1,800 volunteer hours will benefit thousands in the Indianapolis community. This will mark the first time an organization in central Indiana has done a week-long pay it forward event of this kind.

“The OneAmerica Week of Caring celebrates our history and spirit of service to the community,” said Scott Davison, president and CEO for the companies of OneAmerica. “Our associates will see first-hand the people and programs their United Way contributions support. This community is our home and we feel a responsibility to help make it a better place to live for all. We also hope to inspire others in the community to give generously of their time and resources.”

Approximately half of OneAmerica’s local employees will do yard work, sort and prepare food boxes, assemble personal hygiene kits and create mini libraries at 17 three-hour events for the organizations listed below. Similar events are occurring at OneAmerica field offices across the nation.

• Gleaners Food Bank
• Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation
• Indianapolis Public Schools 54 and 74
• Mary Riggs Neighborhood Center
• United Way of Central Indiana
