OneAmerica Unveils Innovative One Lump Sum Disability Product

The American United Life Insurance Company^®, a OneAmerica company, announced today that it is bringing a new concept to the group disability insurance market: One Lump Sum. Offering coverage in a single payment, One Lump Sum Disability Insurance provides additional protection against the potentially staggering costs that come with a disability due to injury or illness.

“We’re very excited about what this new product could mean for individuals and families,” said Executive Vice President Scott Davison. “The loss of income and the expenses associated with a disability can be devastating, and One Lump Sum can provide resources when they’re needed most.”

The One Lump Sum benefit provides a single payment that can help with large medical expenses, modifications to housing and transportation, as well as day-to-day expenses such as mortgage, rent, car, food and clothing. Designed to complement other disability coverages, One Lump Sum provides an up-front benefit to assist with disability-related expenses.

One Lump Sum also provides policyholders with flexibility. Multiple coverage options are available that aren’t reduced by other income benefits like social security disability, and there are no restrictions as to how the funds can be used.

According to the Social Security Administration, 70 percent of working Americans couldn’t make it one month before financial difficulties set in following a disability. One in four wouldn’t make it a week. “One Lump Sum can be an affordable way to close a major income protection gap for consumers,” said Davison. “It is invaluable to know there is a safety net should the unexpected happen.”
