OneAmerica® Unveils New Option for Disability Coverage at the Worksite

OneAmerica recently launched a new Worksite Disability product, a group insurance option that provides income protection to employees incurring a covered accident, injury or illness. Issued and underwritten by American United Life Insurance Company^®(AUL), a OneAmerica^® company, Worksite Disability insurance offers multiple plan and payment options with other features aimed at making it more convenient and affordable for employees to obtain disability coverage.

“Employers understand the physical and emotional toll a disability or illness can have on their employees,” said Jim McGovern, vice president of the employee benefits division. “Add the loss of income, and the situation can be devastating. Worksite Disability insurance can help ease that burden and provide a reliable revenue stream during this time of need.”

The new Worksite Disability insurance is flexible and designed to fit any budget. At enrollment, employees can select Worksite Disability benefits that are paid as an increment or as a percentage of their salary. Short- and long- term voluntary options along with other plan features are available, as well as traditional offerings such as guaranteed issue underwriting and payroll deduction.

“Worksite Disability insurance is yet another option advisers can offer clients that goes beyond having a well-rounded compensation package,” said McGovern. “By offering disability insurance, employers can help employees protect their income should the unexpected happen.”

According to the Social Security Administration, 70 percent of working Americans couldn’t make it one month before financial difficulties set in following a disability; one in four wouldn’t make it a week.
